How to Install Solid Wood Flooring?

PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS

SOLŪ Hardwood offers exceptional flexibility in installation, whether you’re considering solid wood or engineered flooring. You can install them both on the ground floor and upstairs, even over existing wood coverings. Here are some installation options we suggest:

  1. Installation on a Wood Subfloor: Our solid and engineered wood floors can be nailed or stapled to a wood subfloor using a flooring nailer or stapler specifically designed for hardwood floors. This method is ideal for a durable and sturdy installation.
  2. Installation on Concrete: You can also install our solid wood floors on a concrete surface, whether it’s heated or not. To do this, the installer must first lay a waterproof membrane over the concrete. This membrane can be attached with Bostik adhesive or directly adhered to the wood using suitable adhesive. This method ensures a stable and resilient installation.
  3. Installation on a Concrete Slab: If you are installing the floor on a concrete slab directly on the ground, ensure it is properly insulated in accordance with the current building code. The slab must be sealed against moisture and water. If not, use appropriate sealants like those from the Bostik brand or other reputable brands.

INSTALLER AND OWNER RESPONSIBILITY

When installing a hardwood floor, it is essential to consider some key points to ensure an optimal result. Here are some key guidelines to follow:

  1. Checking the Environment and Subfloors: Before starting the installation, the installer and the owner must ensure that the working environment and subfloors meet the minimum conditions specified in the installation guide. This ensures a solid foundation for the floor.
  2. Tolerance for Imperfections: The hardwood flooring industry allows for a 5% margin of error for natural imperfections and manufacturing defects. Before installation, it is essential for the installer and the owner to carefully inspect the grade, color, manufacturing quality, and finish of the wood planks. This ensures that the floor to be installed complies with the purchased product.
  3. Acceptance of Floor Planks: Once a floor plank is installed, it is considered accepted by the installer and the owner, whether the latter is present during installation or not. This step is of great importance as it determines the product’s compliance with expectations.
  4. Calculating the Required Quantity: When ordering hardwood for the floor, it is recommended to add an excess to compensate for losses due to cuts. This ensures that there is enough material for installation and minimizes material wastage.

These guidelines ensure a successful installation and owner satisfaction. SOLŪ Hardwood is here to guide you through the installation process, ensuring that each step is carried out in accordance with quality standards.
